About TRIO Student Support Services

At TRIO Student Support Services, we consider it an honor to support new and current student participants in our program. With each new academic year, we’re beaming with excitement as we welcome new student participants and see the academic, personal and social growth of each participant.

Our ultimate goal in TRIO Student Support Services is to help first-generation, limited income and students of disability status persist from semester to semester, then graduate having earned a four-year college degree. We provide support for freshman, sophomore, junior and senior student participants pursuing any major.

TRIO Student Support Services has provided this level of service on the Wichita State campus for over 55 years. In that time our focus remains the same – you, the student.

We’re excited to offer the most helpful programs, resources and services you’ve come to know, like monthly advising, one-on-one tutoring, mentoring, engaging workshops, scholarships specifically for TRIO SSS participants and more.

Being part of TRIO SSS means we’re here to make sure you’re ready for the classroom by providing services like textbook and technology rental, yearly planners and notebooks for classroom, note-taking and much more! Trio SSS provides academic support services that help first generation, limited income students, and students with disabilities to persist and graduate from college.

To become a model of excellence in assisting first generation, limited income students, and students with disability to persist and graduate from college.

Committed to providing efficient, effective, and excellent services to our students.

Our program goals are consistent with our funding objectives. SSS at WSU is funded to achieve the following objectives:

• Two hundred and fifty (250) low-income, first generation college students, or students with disabilities will be served each grant year.
• Seventy-four percent (74%) of all participants served in the reporting year by the SSS Project will persist from one academic year to the beginning of the next academic year or will have earned a bachelor’s degree at the grantee institution during the academic year.
• Eighty-six (86%) of all enrolled SSS participants being served will meet the performance level required to stay in good academic standing at the grantee institution.
• Thirty-six (36%) of new participants served each year will graduate from the grantee institution with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent within six (6) years.
