We seek to honor exceptional students who embody academic excellence, resilience,
leadership qualities, and a positive, determined attitude. Whether learning online
or navigating the unique journey of an adult learner, nominees for these awards demonstrate
a commitment to personal growth, academic success, and contributing meaningfully within
the Shocker community. Students nominated for this award should exemplify the criteria
outlined:
Submissions due by March 13, 2026
- Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher (Extenuating circumstances can be reviewed)
- Academic Advancement: Noteworthy improvement in academic performance and/or high levels of positive engagement within a classroom setting or substantial contributions to the overall learning process.
- Personal Triumphs: Overcoming personal hurdles and demonstrating resilience.
- Shocker Pride: Active participation in their personal community or within their classes showcasing a commitment to making a positive difference.
Adult Learner of the Year Eligibility Requirements
- Must be completing their first undergraduate degree
- 24 years or older or Military or
- Veteran student or
- Independent Status
- Must be an undergraduate student enrolled in a fully online program
