The number of Americans age 65 and older is projected to nearly double from 52 million in 2018 to 95 million by 2060, equating to 23 percent of the total population (U.S. Census Bureau, 2019).
Programs in gerontology equip students with the skills to address the challenges and embrace the opportunities brought by the demographic shift occurring across our aging population. Whether you're pursuing an undergraduate education, advancing your studies, or aiming to become a licensed nursing home administrator, Wichita State University’s Aging Studies program offers tailored options for you.
Starting at the undergraduate level, we provide a minor, certificate, and a focus in senior living through the Bachelor of Science in Health Management program. For those already holding a bachelor’s degree, we offer graduate certificates, a Master's Degree, and the Administrator-in-Training (AIT) practicum. For students looking to accelerate their education, we offer a dual/accelerated bachelor’s-to-master’s program in Aging Studies.
No matter where you are on your educational path, find your PHS pathway. Discover how you can integrate gerontology into your studies and make a meaningful impact on the lives of older adults.
