Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI)

Some programs may add additional areas of training, if necessary. Programs can either include specific content in courses or use external sources, including CITI modules. View a list of programs that require only the CITI modules.

Getting Started

  1. Check with your department's graduate coordinator first to find out what your program requires as PSIT.
  2. Read below and follow the instructions if you're required to complete specific CITI training modules.
  3. You should complete the PSIT requirement as soon as possible, preferably within the first year of your graduate education at Wichita State.

CITI Registration and Completion Instructions

Step 1: Visit the CITI website

  • Click on "Log in through my institution."
  • Scroll to find Wichita State University in the list and click to select.
  • Log in with your myWSU ID and password

Step 2: Add the required CITI modules

  • Click on "Add a course."
  • You only need to answer questions 2, 6, & 7.
  • Question 2: Select "Graduate Student Basic RCR Course" UNLESS you are an Anthropology and School Psychology major in which case you will select either "Graduate Students in Anthropology Programs" or "Graduate Student in School Psychology Programs".
  • Question 6: Answer "No."
  • Question 7: Answer "Not at this time."
  • Complete the modules required by your program . You can repeat a module multiple times until you get a passing grade of 80% or better. Note: Even if the class says you passed, each individual module score must be 80% or better in order for the Graduate School to consider you to have passed.
  • We will extract results from the CITI system at least once a week and record them in the Degree Works Audit as meeting the PSIT requirement (if they are all that is needed to meet this requirement). If you do not see your results recorded in the system within a month of completing the modules, please email us at degree.progress@wichita.edu.
  • Go to the CITI homepage if you have to start over or need help.

List of programs requiring only CITI modules

If you're in one of the following programs, your program decided that your requirement will be met by only completing specific CITI modules. To register, fill out the CITI registration form, log into the CITI website and complete the course titled, "Graduate Student Basic Course." Please note, Anthropology or School Psychology students will select a different course. Registering allows the Graduate School to request your CITI module results and provide them to your department. In order to meet the requirement, you must pass each of the modules.

*Please choose the discipline-specific course from the list in the CITI system, rather than the general Graduate Student Basic RCR course.

If your program isn't listed above, then it uses a different means to meet the PSIT requirement. Some programs may still ask you to complete CITI modules as a part of a graduate-level course, but completion of only those modules will not meet the PSIT requirement. You will not need to fill out the registration form before logging into the CITI site. If you have questions, contact your advisor or the Graduate School at 316-978-3095 for assistance.
