Research Areas

Potential areas for workshops, seminars, or courses

  • Mathematical modelling, numerical methods.
  • Numerical conformal mapping applied to the computation of potential flow over airfoils, vorticity, fracture mechanics.
  • Data analytics, Bayesian statistics, optimization.
  • Six Sigma methodology.
  • High performance computing, Beoshock.
  • Environmental issues, sustainability, and clean energy.
  • Geometric modelling.
  • Inverse problems, theory and computation.
  • Application of field theory to materials science.
  • General continuum mechanics.
  • Applications of machine learning to multiscale modelling of materials, turbulent flow, damage tolerance, homogenization for composites.

It should be noted that WSU has recently begun offering a data analytics program and has access to high performance computing.

Federal funding will be sought, such as a National Science Foundation GOALI grant. Serious involvement by a faculty member will involve release time from teaching duties.
