This syllabus is a resource for Liberal Arts and Sciences students which describes advising at Wichita State University, student responsibilities for advising, and advisor responsibilities to students, as well as the registration timeline for classes in spring, summer, and fall semesters.
Academic advising is an ongoing educational partnership dedicated to student academic success. Wichita State University supports diverse and equitable educational experiences, encourages students to become self-directed learners, knowledgeable decision makers, professionals recognized for excellence, and global citizens who will pursue lifelong intellectual, cultural, and professional development. Both students and advisors have clear responsibilities for ensuring the academic partnership is successful.
Summer and fall classes: Schedule advising appointment in March. Registration opens mid-April.
Spring classes: Schedule advising appointment in October. Registration opens mid-November.
Specific semester dates are available at the Registrar's Semester and Academic Calendars page.
The Liberal Arts and Sciences Advising Center does not assign academic advisors. Each person is unique with their personality, needs, and goals. The LAS Advising Center has a diverse group of advisors and students are encouraged to meet with different advisors to find the best fit for their distinctive personality and goals.
See our Advising Appointments and Contact Info page for information on how to schedule an appointment.
