"The theme of the 2020 Galaxy Forum is "Artemis and Beyond." It will be Saturday,
Oct. 24, from 1 p.m.-2:30 p.m. at the Cosmosphere in Hutchinson. The Ad Astra Kansas
Foundation is the sponsor.
Michael Staab, 2013 Wichita State University aerospace engineering graduate, currently
serving as Fault Management Systems Principal Engineer for the Lunar Lander and Lunar
Gateway at Northrup Grumman, will speak virtually about the Artemis Program. Complimenting
him will be Martin Ratcliffe, WSU Cohen Honors professor of astronomy, speaking on
the Moon; also, the next rock on our exploring bucket list—Mars—will be the topic
for K-State grad student Sarah Lamm. Steve Durst will speak on a new educational initiative
in Kansas. And invited is physicist Dr. Gerald Jackson-- who would speak on a NASA-funded
robotic mission to Alpha Centauri and Proxima b.
This will be a hybrid event with in-person and virtual presentations. Attendance
can be in-person or virtual. Registration is needed for in-person attendance as seating
is limited due to requirements of social distancing and mask-wearing. The Galaxy
Forum may also viewed LIVE on the Ad Astra Kansas Facebook page."
