“Due to a variety of factors, such as medical advances and a declining birthrate, the median age of the U.S. population has been creeping upwards from around 30 after WWII to 39 today. This demographic shift, accompanied by overall population growth, has increased the population of older adults and those suffering from aging-associated disruptions like dementia. This three-part webinar series, sponsored by the Hauser Policy Impact Fund, will explore how policymakers can leverage our scientific understanding of aging to promote thriving and healthy populations.”

“The August discussion will focus on the national and regional ecosystems for moving technologies out of the laboratory to create new products, companies, and jobs. Come prepared to share about initiatives in your region: What’s working and what’s not? How have you worked around bottlenecks in the process?”

“The projected growth in electricity demand from AI-driven data centers challenges climate mitigation, water resources, and low-cost electricity goals. Many research studies and policy responses focus on how to supply the projected electricity needed for growing use of AI while reducing environmental and other costs, but there has been less focus on the demand side of AI use.”

“Join us for a discussion on the roles higher education can serve in developing a workforce for a climate-resilient future.  As the impacts of climate change intensify, a growing number of employers are exploring ways to integrate skills in resiliency and adaptability into their workforces. From deploying renewable energy and modernizing the electric grid to designing resilient infrastructure and supporting community adaptation, workers across sectors will be central to building a climate-resilient future. This conversation will explore how colleges, universities, community colleges, and trade schools prepare learners for careers that support climate solutions.”

“Health behavior theories (HBTs) are used to describe, predict, and understand health behaviors, as well as to inform the development and use of behavior change strategies. Recent technological advancements and increased focus on social and structural determinants of health challenge traditional approaches to developing and applying HBTs. The National Institutes of Health’s HBT Project aims to identify core needs for advancing HBT quality and use and establish a foundation for future progress. In this conference, HBT Project members and other NIH leaders will report on recent efforts and facilitate collaborative discussions to explore cross-cutting challenges and opportunities for HBT.”

ORCID is an international, interdisciplinary, open, non-proprietary, and not-for-profit organization created by the research community for the benefit of all stakeholders, providing a persistent digital identifier (an ORCID iD) that distinguishes researchers with record that supportsautomatic links among all professional activities.  A researcher’s ORCID iD and connections are stored in the ORCID Registry, in an account owned and managed by individual researchers.  The WSU Office of Research recommends that Researchers set up their ORCID if they have not already, as some federal funders may require the use of an ORCID as part of a researcher’s biographical sketch or CV.
