“For humans and nonhuman primates alike, deeper and more numerous social connections promote health, well-being, and survival. Precisely how primates navigate the multidimensional social relationships that structure daily life and shape survival and reproductive success remains a mystery.  In this webinar, Dr. Platt will discuss how his research combines ethological analyses with new wireless recording technologies and computer vision to uncover neural signatures of natural behavior in unrestrained, socially interacting rhesus macaques.”

“The U.S. Census Bureau’s Narrative Profiles is an online resource that presents American Community Survey 5-year estimates as easily digestible analytic reports. Profiles cover 18 important topic areas—including social, demographic, and workforce characteristics—and present data through short paragraphs, tables, and charts, allowing users to quickly grasp the most relevant statistics without needing to parse large tables of raw numbers.”

“Exploring gross domestic product (GDP) at the county level offers a more detailed look at where industries are located and how they shape local economies, especially in smaller or more rural counties often overlooked at higher geographic levels. SSTI has provided similar analyses at the state and metropolitan levels, yet county-level data can reveal micro-level trends, showing local patterns that broader numbers might hide. Such refined looks can help technology-based economic development and innovation policy approaches to be more surgical in their application. To help guide that refinement, this edition of Useful Stats uses Bureau of Economic Analysis data to map and illustrate differences in county-level GDP broken down by private industries.”

ORCID is an international, interdisciplinary, open, non-proprietary, and not-for-profit organization created by the research community for the benefit of all stakeholders, providing a persistent digital identifier (an ORCID iD) that distinguishes researchers with record that supportsautomatic links among all professional activities.  A researcher’s ORCID iD and connections are stored in the ORCID Registry, in an account owned and managed by individual researchers.  The WSU Office of Research recommends that Researchers set up their ORCID if they have not already, as some federal funders may require the use of an ORCID as part of a researcher’s biographical sketch or CV.
