As a Wichita State student, you automatically receive a membership to the 12 Greater Wichita YMCAs, including the convenient Steve Clark YMCA right on campus. Activating your membership is a breeze – just visit the front desk of the Steve Clark YMCA with your WSU ID. Once you're set-up, you're ready to check in and start enjoying your YMCA benefits.

Here are some of my favorite perks of being a YMCA member:

Group Exercise Classes

This is my go-to benefit. Each YMCA offers a variety of classes included with your membership. I've tried many, but my current favorites are Pilates and yoga. I also love the cycle and muscle pump classes. If you're looking for a challenge, the boot camps are perfect for a good sweat session! No matter your fitness level, there's a class for you. Check out the class offerings and descriptions on the YMCA 360 app.

On-Demand Classes

Speaking of YMCA 360, there are hundreds of on-demand classes available in the app. I've used these classes several times while working out on my own or even when I'm out of town. It's a great way to stay active and keep up with your fitness routine no matter where you are.

Pools and Water Parks

Many of the Greater Wichita Y branches have indoor pools, some with impressive indoor water features. Four branches also have outdoor water parks open during the summer. You can visit any of these pools or water parks with your membership. I've only been to two of the four water parks so far, but they're fantastic for cooling down on warmer days!

Activating Your YMCA Membership

If you're a new student, you can activate your YMCA membership beginning in mid-August by visiting any Greater Wichita YMCA with your Wichita State ID. After a quick stop at the front desk, you'll be ready to enjoy everything your membership includes.

Additionally, your membership might grant you access to YMCAs nationwide, depending on whether they participate in the YMCA Nationwide Membership program. You can check participation here. If they do, you’ll just need to sign a waiver when visiting a YMCA outside of the Greater Wichita area.

So, what are you waiting for? Activate your YMCA membership today and start enjoying all these incredible benefits as a Wichita State student!
