Application for Degree (AFD)
The AFD is the process which notifies the university of the semester in which you intend to graduate. You cannot graduate without submitting an AFD, so it is very important that you get this done before the deadline. The Application for Degree can be found in your myWSU portal under myClasses in the Graduation Links Section.

OktoberFest
Perhaps a college campus is not the most appropriate place to promote beer, but it is a great place to promote culture. In the spirit of cultural celebrations, the Cohen Honors College proudly uplifts the traditions, the food, and the festivities that highlight the German cultural celebration Oktoberfest. Originating on October 12, 1810, in celebration of the marriage of the crown prince of Bavaria, this over 200-year tradition has become the "IT" event of Munich Germany, complete with rides, music, dancing, and several cultural events. The event lasts two weeks, beginning with the mayor of Munich tapping the first keg of beer for an event that draws more than 6 million people who consume roughly 2 million gallons of beer. Oktoberfest began on Saturday, September 17, 2022 and will end this Saturday, October 1, 2022.

Honors offers students a different way to do their degree, designed to be broader, deeper, or more complex than traditional college study. Most Honors courses & experiences also meet general education or major requirements. They simply push you farther. They may require additional research or creative activity, encourage collaboration or independent problem solving, or engage you outside the classroom in integrative and reflective applied learning.
Visit the Current Students page on the college website for general information about Honors curriculum paths and other opportunities in Honors. We also have a suggested honors course sequence page that shows different options for honors experiences over four years. You can view and change your honors track in the Change of Major app in your MyWSU portal, and the honors academic advisor, Jessi Raburn, is available by appointment virtually or in person to guide you as you make decisions. Contact her at jessica.raburn@wichita.edu.
