to present their research experiences virtually to state lawmakers, Board of Regents
members, and the WSU community on March 1st, 2023.
Up to 40 students participate each year representing each of the state’s eight public
four-year institutions. Projects from a broad range of disciplines are encouraged,
especially those that relate to the state of Kansas and issues important to the State
Legislature (e.g. education, health, agriculture, aviation, biotechnology, energy,
transportation, manufacturing, environment, and social services). Up to five projects will be selected from each institution, and students working on
the same research project are encouraged to apply as a group. Click Here for more information and to apply. Applications due by January 31st.
Youth Mentoring Opportunity Available Through INSPYRE
The INSPYRE research team is recruiting individuals of any major to participate in
a youth mentoring opportunity. This is a 3-credit hour PSY 608 class. Mentoring sessions
take the place of in-class time. Mentors will be paired with an elementary school
student struggling to manage their peer relationships through the duration of the
spring semester. Mentors must be able to pass a background check, have reliable transportation,
and be able to attend their mentee's lunch and recess twice/week. Mentors can choose
which days they mentor at the school. If interested, please email inspyre@wichita.edu to set up an interview. Individuals can also contact Dr. Slade directly at samantha.slade@wichita.edu.
