Why Choose Wichita State's Elementary Education Program?
Upon completion of all courses and program assessments, graduates will be eligible to apply for the elementary teaching license (PreK-6, Elementary Unified K-6) after they successfully complete the Kansas teacher licensure exams required by the State of Kansas for application for a teacher license or endorsement.
Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with Concentration in EEU The Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education at Wichita State University prepares future educators to teach general in grades PreK through 6 and special education in grades K-6. Our program offers a strong foundation in core academic subjects—English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and the Arts—followed by coursework and field-based experiences that help candidates build the skills needed to support diverse learners.
Through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on learning, students develop the ability to create inclusive, well-managed, and engaging learning environments. Our rigorous field experiences are engaging and rewarding, and take place in collaboration with USD 259 Wichita Public Schools, the largest school district in Kansas.
Throughout the program, candidates explore topics such as professional reflection, child development, differentiation, instructional technology, assessment, and content-specific teaching methods. Emphasis is placed on professional collaboration and preparing educators who are ready to meet the dynamic needs of today’s elementary classrooms.
