WSU Smart Lab Speaker Series welcomes Jocelyn Monroe of the KC Current

On September 29th, the Smart Lab Speaker Series welcomed Jocelyn Monroe, Vice President of Marketing at KC Current, who shared thoughtful insights on marketing and branding, as well as powerful advice for students' career preparation. Monroe is making significant contributions to the KC Current professional women’s soccer team and breaking barriers in all of women’s sports. She is currently serving as VP of marketing for KC Current, covering retail, brand, content, creative, and field marketing.

Since taking on her new role, KC Current has opened CPKC Stadium, the first women’s professional sports stadium in the world. As part of the stadium, Monroe coordinated the opening of the first brick-and-mortar store in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). The goal behind the branding initiatives is to create a holistic experience for fans while also initiating community efforts by providing new job opportunities and experiences for Kansas City residents.

Students were also provided the opportunity to meet with Martha De Leon, Manager of Experiential Field Marketing at KC Current, as well as other KC Current staff members. We thank all of them for their inspiring and informative message!
