Q&A with Dr. Jill Koyama: Why You Shouldn't Miss the Corbin Connect Leadership and
Ethics in Education Summit
The Corbin Connect Leadership and Ethics in Education Summit is just around the corner, and we’re thrilled to feature Dr. Jill Koyama, a renowned cultural anthropologist and education scholar. As we gear up for this
impactful event, we had the opportunity to ask Dr. Koyama a few questions about her
excitement for the summit, her insights on principled innovation, and why you should
RSVP today!
1. What excites you most about presenting at the Corbin Connect Leadership and Ethics
in Education Summit?
I am excited to be in community, learning together, with Wichita educators committed
to enhancing the experiences of learners within complex and ever-changing contexts.
2. What is your favorite part about connecting with educators at events like this?
I look forward to the ways that we, as educators, can respectfully engage with one
another to talk about persistent and current issues in learning and teaching systems.
I also love hearing educators’ stories.
3. How would you describe “Principled Innovation” in just a few words?
Principled Innovation is a generative and dialectic process that invites a multiplicity
of ideas and perspectives intentionally into safe conversations that productively
lead to shared goals and actions.
4. What’s one thing you’re looking forward to about visiting Wichita State?
I’m impressed that Wichita State University is a fast-growing research entity that
continues to increase access and opportunity by providing students with high quality
education at a low/reasonable tuition. I want to know more about faculty’s experiences
and aspirations at WSU.
5. Why should someone RSVP and not miss this event?
Individuals and groups who want to learn some practice skills and get resources for
improving communication that leads to shared decision making should RSVP. And there
is breakfast!
