Wichita State’s aerospace engineering program and the applied learning opportunities
at the National Institute for Aviation Research convinced Sumran Faizan to attend Wichita State.
Sumran is one of more than 2,400 students eligible for spring 2026 graduation. Learn
more about his time at Wichita State and what's next for the grad.
Wichita State has a strong aerospace engineering program and applied learning opportunities
available through the National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR). I wanted hands-on experience to add to what I learned in the classroom.
WSU gave me the opportunity to work on real aerospace projects while studying.
What applied learning experiences did you participate in during your time here?
I worked at NIAR during my time at WSU , where I worked on projects involving bird
strike analysis and crash simulations. I also worked as a graduate teaching assistant.
What advice would you give other Wichita State students?
Step out of your comfort zone. Try new things and enjoy what you do.
Get involved outside the classroom. WSU has many great opportunities, so make the most of your time here.
