We know you have a life outside your classes. Student Affairs exists to ensure students
get the most out of their time at Wichita State, whether that means connecting you
with resources to help you succeed, or connecting you with your people through involvement
opportunities on campus.
Wichita State has named Dr. Jamarco Clark as its next vice president for Student Affairs,
effective July 1.
Clark currently serves as vice chancellor for Student Affairs at the University of
Illinois Springfield (UIS). In that role, he provides executive leadership for the
Division of Student Affairs and the Department of Athletics, overseeing strategy,
operations, fiscal stewardship and personnel across 22 departments and units.
He is an active scholar and graduate faculty member, teaching in online doctoral and
master’s programs in higher education leadership. His research and publications focus
on workplace wellbeing, trauma‑informed supervision and the experiences of student
affairs professionals.
He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and has been appointed by governors
in Illinois and Iowa to statewide service commissions. He is currently serving on
the SERVE Illinois Commission and previously on Volunteer Iowa, where he contributed
to advancing civic engagement and volunteerism initiatives. He holds an Ed.D. from
the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse, a master’s degree in Strategic Leadership from
Mount Mercy University in Nebraska, and a bachelor’s degree in Educational Foundations
from Iowa Wesleyan University.
At Wichita State, Clark looks forward to working collaboratively across campus to
strengthen Student Affairs as a strategic partner in fostering a supportive, engaging
where all students can reach their full potential.
“I am incredibly excited to join Wichita State and be part of a university that is
doing such impactful work in advancing access and student success,” Clark said. “I
look forward to working closely with students, the Division of Student Affairs and
the entire campus community to support students in reaching their goals and becoming
who they dream to be.”
Dr. Monica Lounsbery, senior executive vice president and provost, said Clark will
bring energy, insight and leadership to Wichita State.
“Throughout the search process, he was widely recognized as an exceptional fit for
our campus, with a deep commitment to students and a collaborative, forward‑thinking
approach,” Lounsbery said. “I am excited to welcome him to WSU and look forward to
the impact he will have in advancing our mission and enriching the lives of our students.”
Kevin Konda will continue to serve as interim vice president and provide leadership
for the division until Clark’s appointment begins.
“I want to thank Kevin Konda for stepping in as interim vice president of Student
Affairs,” Lounsbery said. “Over the past 27 years, Kevin has demonstrated unwavering
dedication to the university, and his willingness to step in during this transition
reflects his deep commitment to our students and campus community.”
