Elliot School of Communication
The Elliott School of Communication at Wichita State prepares students for successful
careers and a lifetime of learning in a communication environment that is increasingly
social, mobile, visual and global.
Over the past few years, Wichita residents have strived to build their city into a
place residents can be proud to call home. Meghan Carver, a Wichita State student
majoring in Integrated Marketing Communication, is passionate about the city she's
from and works hard to spread Wichita pride through her work.
That passion can be seen through her involvement in Avenue Art Days, a volunteer-based
organization created by the Douglas Design District.
From Sept. 21-23, local artists are coming together to downtown Wichita to paint murals
all along Douglas Avenue for Avenue Art Days. This year's launch will be held at the
I-35 underpass among murals from past Avenue Art Days.
This event gives Wichita artists and art lovers the chance to get involved in the
development of the urbane aesthetic that's growing throughout the city.
Meghan is responsible for running social media accounts for Avenue Art Days, helping
with marketing and the Sept. 23 mural crawl.
Establishing connections has plugged me into different opportunities and has allowed
me to develop the necessary skills to assist in the development of our community.
— Meghan Carver

WSU Office of Undergraduate Admissions; interning at Textron Aviation in community
and engagement communications; and working for The Greater Partnership of Wichita.

her career in community engagement and economic development.
