The Barton School of Business is the home of real and applied learning. A place where
students apply knowledge gained from faculty and business leaders while developing
professional and life skills. The Barton School is among the top 1% of business schools
worldwide due to its double AACSB accreditation in business and accounting. Housed
in the award-winning Woolsey Hall, the school features artwork, sculptures, gardens,

the building.
The Barton School of Business at Wichita State University has named Tanner Gegen as

key financial and administrative operations for the Barton School, supporting the
school’s budgeting, financial planning and operational needs.
“We are pleased to welcome Tanner to the Barton School,” said Dr. Larisa Genin, Dean
of the Barton School of Business. “His strong background in financial management and
operations, combined with his previous experience at Wichita State, will be valuable
as we continue to strengthen our operations and support the work of our faculty, staff
and students.”

Wichita. In that role, he supported risk assessments and recovery planning, developed
and maintained budgets, and presented operating budgets to corporate leadership.
Prior to Boeing, Gegen spent more than two years as Business Manager at Wichita State’s
National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR). He oversaw financial operations including
capital and operating budgets, vendor purchasing, month- and year-end reconciliations
and financial reporting. He also worked closely with laboratory directors on strategic
planning. Gegen previously spent nearly five years at GoCreate, Wichita State’s makerspace,
where he managed operations, budgets and membership reporting for sponsors.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to return to Wichita State and join the Barton School,”
Gegen said. “WSU has played an important role in my education and career, and I look
forward to bringing my experience back to the university and working alongside the
Barton School team to support its continued growth and success.”
A Wichita State alumnus, Gegen earned both a Bachelor of Business Administration with
a concentration in marketing and a Master of Business Administration from WSU. Outside
of work, Gegen enjoys spending time with his wife and their dog and two cats.
