About the W. Frank Barton School of Business
The W. Frank Barton School of Business is the home of real and applied learning, a
place where students apply knowledge gained from faculty and business leaders while
developing professional and life skills. The Barton School is among the top 1% of
business schools worldwide due to its double AACSB accreditation in business and accounting.
The school is housed in an award-winning building, Woolsey Hall, which features remarkable
artwork, sculptures, gardens, and The Promise Bridge, a 300-foot-long pedestrian bridge
over the water in front of the building.
Another Broken Egg Café, an upscale brunch restaurant is set to open Sept. 30 near
K-96 and Oliver. The concept comes to Wichita thanks to two 2023 graduates of the
W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University. Jacob O’Connor and
Jon Peterson, who first met in high school and had other business ventures together
in college, did extensive research and vetting before choosing to franchise Another
Broken Egg Café. They will host a special VIP opening on Sept. 28 where 100% of sales
will go to their charity partner, The Shocker Support Locker.
“Through Jon's and my time at WSU, we built an invaluable network of successful entrepreneurs
who we're grateful to call mentors,” said O’Connor, who was a Jabara Scholar recipient
and named Entrepreneur of the Year while at WSU. “We almost exclusively met these
connections in person at local restaurants. We hope for our cafe to be a regular meeting
ground for WSU students to have those same meetings with their future mentors.”
Another Broken Egg Café serves Louisiana-inspired breakfast and lunch dishes. Located
in the District 96 development, the 3,500-square-foot space seats 152, as well as
a large outdoor patio and a bar with full drink menu. The restaurant will be open
Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday and Sundays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“We’re all very excited for Jon, Jacob and the Another Broken Egg Café team,” said
Dr. Larisa Genin, dean of the Barton School. “The Barton School has deep roots in
entrepreneurship and a great legacy of providing students with the tools to bet on
themselves and create thriving businesses. Jon and Jacob really utilized all their
opportunities while at WSU and I can’t wait to see all their ingenuity and desire
in action.”
“I was connected with Jon and Jacob when they came to a Barton School Dean’s Advisory
Board meeting to share the business they were running in college,” said Susayn Brandes,
president and CEO of Great Plains Ventures. “You could tell immediately how passionate,
persistent and determined they were. It’s that determination that led to more individual
meetings and mentorship. Another Broken Egg Café will be a great addition to our community
because of their leadership.”
