Every scholarship opens a new door. For some students, it’s the opportunity to attend college. For others, it’s the chance to pursue internships, leadership experiences or graduate education. At the Barton School of Business at Wichita State University, expanded support from Capitol Federal Foundation® will help even more future business leaders walk through those doors.

Capitol Federal’s latest investment increases the number of Capitol Federal® Scholarships awarded annually from nine to 14, further strengthening one of the Barton School’s longest-standing scholarship partnerships while advancing Wichita State University’s commitment to affordability and accessibility. The expanded scholarship support comes as the Barton School now awards more than $1.4 million annually in scholarships, helping students pursue nationally recognized business degrees while reducing financial barriers and preparing the next generation of business leaders.

“At the Barton School, we believe every talented student should have the opportunity to pursue an exceptional business education regardless of financial circumstances,” said Dr. Larisa Genin, dean of the Barton School of Business. “Capitol Federal Foundation has been an extraordinary partner in helping us make that vision a reality. Their continued partnership is not only opening doors for students today but strengthening the future workforce and business community of Kansas.”

For Jennie Nguyen, that support has meant pursuing a master’s degree in Economics and Quantitative Analysis while focusing on preparing for the next stage of her career instead of worrying about the financial impact that often accompanies graduate education.

“Receiving the Capitol Federal Scholarship has allowed me to focus more fully on my education and professional development without the same financial stress,” Nguyen said. “It has given me the opportunity to pursue graduate studies, gain valuable experience and prepare for a career where I hope to make a meaningful impact. I’m

incredibly grateful for donors like Capitol Federal who believe in investing in students and our futures.”

Nguyen’s experience reflects the impact Capitol Federal Foundation has made at the Barton School for years. Since the scholarship program began in 1999, Capitol Federal has contributed more than $1 million in scholarship support, helping 187 Barton School students like Jennie pursue their educational and professional goals. Across Wichita State University, Capitol Federal’s lifetime giving now exceeds $2.2 million.

Capitol Federal scholarships recognize outstanding business students from the bank’s Kansas market areas who have demonstrated academic excellence and leadership potential. Because the scholarships are renewable, recipients receive continued support throughout their time at the Barton School, allowing them to pursue internships, experiential learning opportunities and career preparation with greater confidence.

“Investing in education has long been a focus for the Capitol Federal Foundation, and we are proud to support Barton School of Business students as they pursue their higher education goals,” said John B. Dicus, Chairman of Trustees, Capitol Federal Foundation. “By expanding these scholarships, we look forward to creating more opportunities for the next generation of business leaders in Kansas.”

Partnerships like this ensure that talented students can pursue a world-class business education based on their potential, not their financial circumstances. They also strengthen the future workforce of Kansas and our communities. Across Wichita State University, Capitol Federal's giving reflects a 20-year partnership exceeding $2.2 million in contributions, helping advance transformational initiatives such as the development of Woolsey Hall and the Wichita Biomedical Campus.
