Five high school seniors were named Doris and Ralph Klose Scholars as part of the
Klose Scholars Day at Wichita State University.
The Klose Scholarship is awarded to students pursuing a degree in math or science
education in Wichita State’s College of Applied Studies. Students receive a tuition,
fees and book stipend scholarship, estimated at $19,000, once they are admitted into
the Teacher Education program at the beginning of their junior year at WSU.
This year’s recipients of the Doris and Ralph Klose Scholarship are:
Allison Flores Timbre Creek High School Fort Worth, Texas
Nathan Gosvenor Little Elm High School Little Elm, Texas
Rebekah Iseman Bishop Carroll Catholic High School Wichita
Keely Orr Southeast Saline Senior High School Assaria, Kansas
Marlon Toney Wichita East High School Wichita
Eight high school seniors from Kansas and Texas competed for the Klose Scholarship.
Klose Scholars Day provided students with the opportunity to interview with College
of Applied Studies faculty and current Klose Scholars, present a mini-lesson and participate
in a group activity. Students also submitted an application that included two essays.
